Jordana's Story

Jordana’s mission in life is to glorify her God and be a daughter of the King of Kings. This is her journey.

She was diagnosed with lupus as a teenager. By the age of twenty-one this disease had impacted her body so severely that it caused her to lose her sight and her physical mobility. However, she does not let blindness or her mobility challenges define who she is. She leads her life with this motto: “Whatever causes people with physical limitations to not overcome difficulties and to not achieve success is ten percent their circumstances and ninety percent their attitude. A positive attitude toward a situation will lead a person to overcome his or her challenges.”

Another proven secret in her life is to put others first and to become a giver.  She looks for ways to be a helper to others in her community through projects, fund raisers, presentations, camps, and other opportunities that come her way. She has found that by doing this, her own personal challenges become much less of a hinderance to her success.

The service she gives to her students and their families is making a difference in the lives of these young people. It is preparing them to live more productively and independently as they mature into adulthood. Her focus as a teacher is to give her students tools to live in a sighted world so that they will have the skills and competency to succeed and be as independent as possible.

Her goal for the future is to actively encourage all her students to live out their dreams and achieve them in spite of their challenges. She also wants to bring glory to God in all she does by living out the following verse: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” Colossians 3:23
